The company you now know as "Pro Audio and Lighting" A.K.A. DJ Supply or DJS Pro Audio and Lighting has actually been evolving since the 1970's:

In the 70's a company known as Disc Jockey Supply was born from the back room of a car stereo shop. In the 80's consumer demand increased, we realized there was a need for a place both professional and home grown DJs and KJs could go and not be treated as an outsider. The dedicated Disc Jockey Supply store was opened. The 90's is when things really started cookin'. The two driving partners of Disc Jockey Supply came together. A second store in Troy (later moved to Warren), and a third store was opened in Garden City. In 1996 we incorporated. In 2000 we added specialty vinyl rooms to each of the stores. In 2004 there was a mutual agreement between the two partners of Disc Jockey Supply. It was decided one partner would run the Waterford location independently and the other would continue to run the Warren and Garden City stores, as well as this web site. In 2005, the vinyl section was removed from the stores and replace with computers, music creation, performance software and accessories. Late 2005 saw the formation of DJS Commercial, now known as Pro Audio and Lighting Commercial Division, to address the specific needs of corporate clients, nightclubs, bars, houses of worship, home, and the entertainment market and any clients that required installation, rentals, repairs and consultation, off site. In early 2006 DJS Commercial did its first installation out of the country in Nassau Bahamas. In December of 2006 the Warren store expanded and opened the largest professional lighting show room in Michigan and surrounding states, featuring cutting edge fixtures not seen anywhere else in the region. In 2007, we were recognized by Chauvet Lighting as their "Northwest Territory Dealer of the Year". In 2007 it was also decided that our focus would be expanded and our name would change to DJS Pro Audio and Lighting. Therefore, we are now able to address the audio and lighting needs of the live performer as well as the Disc Jockey, Karaoke Host and Video Jockey. In 2009 we purchased the web address and phone number of Pro Gear Warehouse, who had similar interests as ours. This purchase improved our procedures and expanded our market even more. In early 2011 we greatly improved our POS software and updated systems to address the needs of our customers. August 1st, 2011 we officially changed the name of our company to "Pro Audio and Lighting" and unveiled the new website address www.ProAAL.com. This site, and the software that runs it, is state of the art and continually being enhanced and updated to improve the customer experience. We hope you like what you see.

The latest chapter in Pro Audio and Lighting history has been written on October 15th, 2012 when we moved to our new home at 2400 E 14 Mile Rd, Warren. This 14,540 square foot facility combines our off site warehouse and old Warren store into one spot. Allowing us to get merchandise to our customers quicker and, the retail space is much bigger and offers us the flexibility to add new product lines and manufactures. Guitar, drum and band accessories have been added to our show room floor. These are items we have carried for years but never had the room to show. We now have the room to explore things like lessons and learning seminars, we keep writing the history and striving for the future. With all of the coolest needs and toys for sale and rental, we are the largest independent supplier of karaoke equipment, lighting, professional sound and DJ gear in Michigan and surrounding states. We have customers that travel from all over the country and Canada to shop at our stores.

We are involved in the Detroit music scene and "Pro Audio and Lighting Commercial Divison" has supplied gear for the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Freedom Festival, Auto Rama, the Thanksgiving Day Parade, the World Series, the MLB All Star game and numerous Super Bowl parties, among many others events too vast to list. In 2007 we were a sponsor of Detroit's Battle of the Bands. We have supplied gear and worked with Detroit artists and entities such as Kid Rock, Eminem, Richie Hawtin, Slum Village, Paxahau, Ghostly Records, as well as filling the riders of international acts like Fatboy Slim, Franz Ferdinand, Bad Boy Bill, Paul Oakenfold. Many others have come to Pro Audio and Lighting to fill their riders. We keep gear on hand for last minute emergencies and have been known to be on stage at the Palace of Auburn Hills, to trouble shoot problems or supply a last minute piece of equipment, microphone cable or replacement stylus.

Pro Audio and Lighting employees continue to work in the industry after hours. Yes, even the owner still goes out on the weekend every once in a while to entertain. Most everyone who works here has some form of entertainment experience. Most of the gear we sell here has been taken out by the employees or the owners to test it out. If we experience problems with it, we don't sell it. That is why you may not see all of the brands that other stores carry. We want to make sure the gear we sell you will be as trouble free as possible but still have enough choices to fit your budget and feature list.

We invite you to look around our web site and have confidence when you purchase equipment from us, knowing that you are purchasing from real people with real store fronts. We will be here to service you if you have a problem. We will be here for years to come for all of your Pro audio and lighting, DJ, VJ and KJ needs. As we continue to grow, the customer will always be our first priority.

Thank You for Choosing Pro Audio and Lighting,
