The ProX MB-48 is a 48-inch mirror disco ball built for major concert tours, festival main stages, arena productions, and high-profile nightclub installations where the mirror ball serves as a defining production centerpiece. At a full 4 feet in diameter, the MB-48 occupies the upper tier of professional mirror ball sizes and delivers visibility and reflection density that matches stadium-scale staging.
The MB-48 is constructed around a high-density Polystyrene foam (EPS) core engineered specifically for very large mirror ball formats. EPS is the professional industry standard for mirror ball manufacturing thanks to its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, which is critical at this scale where total ball weight directly affects rigging, motor selection, and venue feasibility. The closed-cell EPS structure resists moisture absorption, will not warp under stage heat, and holds an accurate spherical shape across years of touring use.
The exterior is fully covered in precision-cut high-grade glass mirror tiles measuring 20mm (3/4"), scaled to match the large format and produce bold, room-filling individual reflections visible from anywhere in stadium-scale venues. Each tile features a premium silvered backing for maximum reflectivity, true color rendering, and crisp beam definition, produced to consistent thickness with clean square edges for tight uniform placement across the sphere. The mirror coating is sealed against tarnishing to maintain its bright silver finish through years of demanding touring use. Each tile is individually bonded with a premium high-strength industrial adhesive engineered to hold tiles securely through continuous rotation, transport, and the realities of long-haul touring production. The denser ProX tile pattern produces a brighter, more saturated coverage of reflected light across massive rooms.
Internally, a steel reinforcement rod runs the full vertical axis from top to bottom of the ball, anchored at each pole by a heavy-duty removable O-ring and secured by an M10 nut for maximum mounting integrity. At this diameter the internal steel structure is essential for safe rigging, providing strong, reliable mounting points designed to support the ball under extended runs of large-format motor-driven rotation. The MB-48 is compatible with the ProX X-MBM-3 (1 RPM) mirror ball motor (sold separately), rated for 30" through 48" balls.
