The ProX MB-40 is a 40-inch mirror disco ball engineered for touring productions, major concert venues, large festivals, and headline nightclub installations where scale and visual presence matter. At 40 inches, this mirror ball delivers the kind of unmistakable, room-defining sparkle that turns the ball itself into a featured production element.
Every MB-40 is built around a high-density Polystyrene foam (EPS) core engineered for professional large-format mirror balls. EPS is the industry-standard material for this application because it combines exceptional strength with manageable weight, while its closed-cell structure provides outstanding dimensional stability. The ball will not warp under stage lighting heat, will not absorb humidity, and will hold a true round profile through years of touring, hanging, and storage cycles.
The exterior is fully covered in precision-cut high-grade glass mirror tiles measuring 20mm (3/4"), sized for the large format of the ball to deliver bigger, more dramatic individual reflections that read clearly across stadium-scale rooms. Each tile features a premium silvered backing for maximum reflectivity, true color rendering, and crisp beam definition, manufactured to consistent thickness with clean square edges for tight uniform placement across the sphere. The mirror coating is sealed against tarnishing to maintain its bright silver finish over years of professional touring use. Each tile is bonded with a professional-grade high-strength adhesive that locks tiles firmly in place under continuous rotation, transport vibration, and the demanding conditions of touring production. ProX uses a denser tile pattern than traditional balls, producing a brighter, more saturated reflection field that fills large venues with cascading beams of light and color.
Internally, a steel reinforcement rod runs the full vertical axis of the ball, anchored at each pole by a heavy-duty removable O-ring and secured by an M10 nut for maximum mounting strength. The steel core and dual O-ring mounting hardware are essential at this size, providing the secure, balanced anchor points needed for safe overhead rigging and reliable connection to large-format motor systems. The MB-40 is compatible with the ProX X-MBM-3 (1 RPM) mirror ball motor (sold separately), rated for 30" through 48" balls.
